A spectacular location to catch these beauties is at Carrizo Plain National Monument in Santa Margarita. The Carrizo Plain is the largest single native grassland remaining in California, known for being the prime wildflower bloom spot in SLO county. Another place you are sure to spot wildflowers is Montaña de Oro State Park.
